Nestles continues to extract water despite the severe drought in Guelph
GUELPH, Aug. 22, 2016 /CNW/ - As seen trending nationally across Twitter by multiple news outlets, Nestle, a near neighbor to the University of Guelph continues to extract water during this drought.
Everyday thousands of University of Guelph students proudly and responsibly make the choice to drink filtered tap water from a reusable bottle.
The Central Student Association condemns these continued actions taken by Nestle and stand with the many professors, environmentalists and activists calling for Nestle to stop extracting water.
We ask the Ontario government not to renew Nestle's water-taking permit.
Water is a human right, not a commodity.
The Central Student Association (CSA) is the undergraduate students' union at the University of Guelph. We democratically represent the over 19,000 undergraduate students at the University of Guelph.
On January 20, 2016 at the CSA annual general meeting, students reaffirmed the call on senior administration at the University of Guelph to end the sale of bottled water on campus and to divest from companies involved in the sale of bottled water.
