National Airlines Council of Canada welcomes the announcement that ICAO headquarters will remain in Montreal

MONTREAL, May 24, 2013 /CNW/ - The member airlines of the National Airlines Council of Canada (NACC) welcome today's announcement that the headquarters of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) will remain in Montreal.

"Montreal is an international civil aviation hub, and benefits from world-class aviation expertise and facilities," said George Petsikas, President of the NACC, adding: "Maintaining ICAO's headquarters in the city is excellent news not only for the organization and its staff, but also for the greater Montreal region, Canada and international civil aviation as a whole. I salute Foreign Minister John Baird for the resolve and leadership he showed in dealing with this matter, and for working closely with other important stakeholders including Quebec Minister of Inter-Governmental Affairs Jean-François Lisée and Mayor Michael Applebaum of Montreal. This team effort has ensured that Montreal retains its rightful place as a global aerospace leader and meeting place for key international civil aviation institutions."

The National Airlines Council of Canada (NACC) is the trade association representing Canada's largest national and international passenger air carriers: Air Canada, Air Transat, Jazz Aviation LP and WestJet.
