Maple Armor to manufacture fire alarm systems - Chinese manufacturer sets up operations in Saint-Bruno

SAINT-BRUNO-DE-MONTARVILLE, QC, Aug. 19, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Solutions D'alarme Incendie Maple Armor Canada Inc., one of the first Chinese companies to invest in manufacturing in Quebec, announces that it will build a plant to manufacture fire alarm systems in Saint-Bruno, on Montreal's South Shore. This $30 million investment will generate 70 jobs once the plant is operational.

Zhendong Xu, chaiman of Beida Jade Bird Group, Maple Armor's parent company, Weimin Cai, president of Maple Armor, Gelin Zhang, vice-president of Maple Armor, Jacques Daoust, Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Exports, and Martin Murray, mayor of Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, today officially launched construction of the plant with a ground-breaking ceremony.

Zhendong Xu thanked Quebeckers for their warm welcome and the Quebec government for its financial support of the project. "We wanted to set up operations in North America to develop a new product line that meets the highest industry standards. Considering the ease of access to new markets and the presence of a highly qualified labour force, we are pleased to pursue our growth here in Quebec with you," he added.

"Initially, production at the new Maple Armor plant will be destined for the Chinese market, because of its strong demand for certified fire alarm systems. We then intend to diversify our export markets," explained Gelin Zhang.

Mayor Murray said he was very pleased to welcome Maple Armor to Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville. "This project brings important assets and investments to our city. A leading manufacturer of fire prevention equipment, this company is a major addition to Saint-Bruno's industrial ecopark. In addition to creating jobs, it will contribute to raising our city's profile."

Maple Armor plans to have its plant operational by the end of 2015.
