TORONTO, Sept. 5, 2012 /CNW/ - Shopcaster, an online marketplace for
local retailers and shoppers, is launching today Canada-wide E-commerce
with an introductory shipping rate of only $5.
Shopcaster is the only website in Canada that offers consumers the
experience of shopping at local boutiques with all the convenience of
shopping online - at anytime and from anywhere.
At the completion of a two-month beta program, there are already over
100 Toronto independent retailers selling thousands products on
Shopcaster with more joining each week.
"We're thrilled to announce the launch of Canada-wide ecommerce," says
Shopcaster Founder Matt O'Leary. "We've got a new site design, new logo
and are getting ready to bring new retailers onboard from new cities
across Canada and the United States."
Products available on Shopcaster include apparel for women, children and
men, vintage, home décor and kitchen items, pet supplies and sports and
"There's nothing quite like the experience of shopping at local
independent boutiques," says Founder Judy Sims. "What's special about
Shopcaster is that it brings that experience online. You can browse by
category or neighbourhood and each shop has its own page that
shopkeepers can customize to reflect their unique personalities."
For retailers, Shopcaster is a simple-to-use web and mobile platform
that empowers them to manage their online presence and to display their
products beautifully, easily and instantly.
To mark its E-commerce launch, Shopcaster (formerly Shopcastr) has
changed the spelling of the site's name to include an 'e'.
Shopcaster brings local retailers and their products online for the
world to discover, share and shop. Our platform is designed to
increase foot traffic into shops and also provides a hassle-free way
for local retailers to sell products online. We believe that a healthy
local retail community makes neighbourhoods stronger, is good for the
economy and better for the environment.
