Kristine Barnett, mother of 'autistic genius' son, speaks in Toronto December 2.

Author of summer's best-seller, The Spark,  tells the incredible story of how Jacob came to be a student at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics.

TORONTO, Nov. 6, 2013 /CNW/ - When your son's autistic, who would even think of nurturing his 'genius'? One woman would - and did.

Kristine Barnett is the author of The Spark, the memoir that stormed the publishing world this summer. As Sylvia Nassar, author of A Beautiful Mind, said: "If you have a child who's different - and who doesn't? - you won't be able to put it down."

Kristine Barnett will speak at the new early-evening series of RamsayTalks titled Big Issues: Fresh Views that tackles the hard, complex issues that don't get aired as much as they deserve.

Her story defines inspirational. Kristine's son, Jacob, was so autistic that she thought he'd never read. But two months ago, Jacob was accepted at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Waterloo, one of the most eminent scientific institutions in the world. It turns out Jacob's IQ is higher than Einstein's and he is still just 15.
