Kia Canada Inc. concludes August with record performance; extends industry leading sales growth to 44 months
- Best August ever with 7,682 vehicles reported, a 32.4 per cent increase

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Sept. 4, 2012 /CNW/ - Kia Canada Inc. concluded the month of August with record performance nationally achieving its best August in its thirteen year history with 7,682 new vehicles sold, contributing to a 32.4 per cent growth when compared to August 2011. Similarly, calendar year to date sales performance continues at a torrent pace with 54,663 vehicles sold, representing a 20.7 per cent increase compared to one year ago. Through the month of August, Kia Canada has sold nearly 10,000 additional vehicles versus the same period in 2011. This momentum also extended an industry-leading sales growth run at 44 consecutive months.
August sales were fueled by three vehicle lines that reported over 1,000 units sold each. Top volume sales were led by the all-new subcompact Rio, which includes the sedan and 5-door. The fuel efficient, award winning Rio duo contributed to a best ever sales month since its inaugural year in 2001 achieving 1,733 vehicles sold throughout Canada. The Sorento Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) built in West Point Georgia continues to achieve consistent strength in numbers, with 1,588 units reported, a 13.3 per cent increase over a year previous. The Forte family, comprising of the sedan, Koup and 5-Door, contributed to 1,303 sales, achieving a 13.9 per cent increase year over year.
"The Rio subcompact, Sorento SUV and Forte compact continue to be vehicle lines of strength for Kia Canada's product portfolio and represent three very competitive segments," said Robert Staffieri, Director of Marketing, Kia Canada Inc. "These three vehicles, along with the rest of our model lineup, continue to attract repeat and conquest customers as we have experienced a 20.7 per cent year to date increase, outpacing the industry average."
In the month of August, Kia Canada celebrated its second annual Drive Change Day, on August 21st, 2012, which promoted making positive change in local communities across Canada. As part of the Drive Change Day initiatives, Kia Canada staff, dealers, partners, customers and Canadians dedicated a large effort to supporting local communities nationally. Over 2,000 initiatives engaged Canadians on or before Drive Change Day, among contest entries, acts of kindness and 315 Drive Change events that were reported through the www.DriveChangeWithKia.ca website.
