Hudak voted against music fund that benefits Metalworks Studios

MISSISSAUGA, ON, May 5, 2014 /CNW/ - This morning Tim Hudak will try to convince reporters that he has always supported the music industry while his voting record shows otherwise.  The Hudak PCs voted against a strategic partnership with the music industry when they opposed the Ontario Music Fund in Budget 2013.

The fund supports home-grown talent, music companies and other industries that support the music sector, such as festivals, events and music venues.

Tim Hudak has no problem calling strategic partnerships "corporate welfare" but he will sing another tune in an election.

Here's what MetalWorks Group CEO, Gil Moore, said on this important partnership:

"On behalf of our 85 employees at Metalworks, I congratulate the Government of Ontario for its commitment to enhance the province's vibrant music scene. As a result of today's announcement, not only will the music industry get a much-needed shot in the arm; but also, the 220 students currently enrolled at Metalworks Institute will be more likely to enjoy successful careers in the industry that I have been fortunate enough to call my own since my days performing with Triumph. Today is a landmark day for music in Ontario." (Gil Moore, CEO, MetalWorks Group, Government Press Release, May 1, 2013)

Kathleen Wynne's Liberals are committed to working with multiple sectors in order to create jobs and companies that support home-grown talent like Metalworks Studios.
