OTTAWA, June 24, 2013 /CNW/ - The Office of the Information Commissioner
of Canada has launched a call for nominations in lieu of the third
annual Grace-Pépin Access to Information Award.
Introduced on September 29, 2010 by the Office of the Information
Commissioner of Canada in collaboration with its provincial and
territorial counterparts, the Grace-Pépin Access to Information Award is presented in memory of John Grace (1927-2009) and Marcel Pépin
(1941-1999), two public figures who contributed significantly to the
development and promotion of access to information principles in
Award recipients should demonstrate an exceptional contribution to the
promotion and support of the principles of transparency, accountability
and the public's right to access information held by public
institutions. In this way, the Grace-Pépin Access to Information Award will continue the efforts of these two great men to promote the right to
The 2013 award recipient will be chosen by a selection committee made up
of federal, provincial, and territorial access to information experts.
This year, the award will be presented during the Right to Know Week -
September 23 to 28. Nominations will be accepted until August 15, 2013.
