- Four in Five Adult Canadians Say They're Patriotic, Family Time Number One Summer Goal -
TORONTO, June 14, 2016 /CNW/ - Gen Z, X and boomers rank Prime Minister as their number one favourite Canadian celebrity over homegrown A-listers like Drake, Justin Bieber and Jim Carey in a survey conducted by Caddle®, a new consumer engagement platform. However, millennials polled say Ryan Reynolds is their favourite Canadian celebrity, with Justin Trudeau ranking fourth for this age group behind Jim Carey and Ryan Gosling respectively.
Caddle® recently polled Canadians across Gen Z (1995-2012), millennials (1977-94), Gen X (1966-76) and boomers (1946-65) generations nationally. In addition to polling about the favourite Canadian celebrity (see infographic attached), Caddle® also examined if Canadians consider themselves patriotic, where they would most like to spend Canada Day and about summer spending and goals. #1 Summer Goal: Spending More Time with Family
Spending more time with family ranked as the number one goal for Canadians this summer (30 per cent), followed by getting fit (26 per cent) and earning more money (20 per cent).
Majority Will Spend More Money on Food Than Booze and Travel
Over half of all respondents (53 per cent) say they will be spending the most money on groceries this Canada Day long weekend followed by outdoor activities (21 per cent), family travel (13 per cent), beer and wine (12 per cent).
Less than 10 per cent Want to Go to The Nation's Capital for Canada Day
A backyard BBQ ranked as the top choice of where Canadians of all generations polled would most like to spend Canada Day. In fact, when asked where they thought about booking their next vacation, Canadians across all generations surveyed chose Canada as their top choice over options including The Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia.

About Caddle's® Canada Day 2016 Survey
The survey was conducted on May 26, 2016 online to a national sample of Caddle's® database. For participating in the survey, respondents received .25 cents cash back. Caddle® gathered 1,004 responses from adult Canadians aged 18 years old to 49 years old+. Respondents provided basic demographic information including the first digits of their postal code, age, household income, education and gender. The demographic data was used to weight responses to accurately reflect StatsCan demographics. The survey has a margin of error of +/– 5 per cent with a confidence level of 95 per cent.
