First part of the Canadian International Aluminum Conference - A successful meeting for the aluminum industry

MONTREAL, Oct. 25, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The first part of the Canadian International Aluminum Conference (CIAC) ended yesterday and more than 1,100 participants took in an exhibition as well as training sessions and conferences sponsored by the International Aluminum Conference (INALCO) and AluSolutions at the Palais des congrès de Montréal. More than 70 exhibitors from Asia, Europe and North America were present to demonstrate their know-how and expertise in all facets of aluminum processing.

"This first initiative on Canadian soil has been a resounding success. Over four days, participants networked, broadened their technical skills and tapped countless business opportunities" says Jean Simard, President and General Manager of the Aluminum Association of Canada, which organized the event.

Next meeting in June 2014

The second part of the CIAC will take place in Montréal on June the 2nd , 3rd and 4th, 2014. Some of the world's leading experts on aluminum will be present to offer instruction and inspiration. Next June's gathering will be held at the Centre Mont-Royal and will be focused on the future of aluminum and its prospects from an industrial and technical and sustainable perspective.

The Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada, one of the country's more prestigious annual events, will be held in Montréal during the same week as the CIAC gathering. Conference visitors who wish to see Formula 1 cars in action will witness the stunning technical innovations that aluminum has brought to motorsports and to the automotive industry.

A new aluminum network

The week began with the announcement of the official launch of the Grappe industrielle de l'aluminium du Québec which will provide more efficient synergies among aluminum producers, processors, suppliers and end-users, as well as teaching institutions and research centres. The governments of Canada, Québec and the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal made the announcement in the presence of Jean Simard and Luc Roby, President and General Manager of the Grappe.
