MISSISSAUGA, ON, March 9, 2015 /CNW/ - The Electricity Distributors Association (EDA) has recognized Enersource Corporation as an exceptional leader in the industry, presenting the utility with the EDA's Performance Excellence Award.
This prestigious award recognizes electricity distribution companies that achieve excellent results across a broad range of performance outcomes in the industry, including: occupational health and safety; operational excellence; financial operations; retail strategies for conservation and demand management; and contributions to the community.
The Enersource submission highlighted how the Mississauga-based utility excelled in each of these areas, including:
- its overall commitment to occupational health and safety, which helped staff reach 2-million employee hours worked without a lost-time injury;
- being ranked in the Ontario Energy Board's Efficiency Assessment as one of the most efficient large utilities in the province;
- achieving exceptional reliability performance;
- receiving outstanding marks in customer satisfaction, including a 96% approval rating among large commercial and industrial customers; and,
- the delivery of an innovative electronic billing campaign that helped restore the local tree canopy after the 2013 Ice Storm, while also reducing paper waste from printed bills.
Positioning itself as a leader in customer service, the company also reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with its customers and to better understand their evolving needs and expectations. In 2014, Enersource realigned their Chief Operating Officer as the industry's first Chief Customer Officer. This leadership role liaises with all departments across the organization, using customer feedback to strategically plan and invest responsibly in Mississauga's electrical system and infrastructure. Ready to participate in a changing industry, Enersource will continue to focus on its strengths by providing enhanced customer-centric service, while delivering safe and reliable electricity to the community it serves.
"Over the course of this past year, our employees demonstrated a remarkable commitment to being more than just an energy company." said Peter Gregg, President and CEO at Enersource. "I am honoured to accept this award on behalf of all our employees, as well as our very engaged Board of Directors and shareholders. We are proud of and humbled by this recognition from the EDA and we look forward to an exciting future for our industry."
