COLLINGWOOD, ON, Dec. 12, 2013 /CNW/ - Elephant Thoughts Educational Outreach has received the 2013 Donner Canadian Foundation Award for Excellence in the Delivery of Education for their First Nations and Inuit Education programs.
Out of 477 total applicants, 92 in the category of education, Elephant Thoughts Educational Outreach was chosen to be the best based on program delivery, innovation, financial management, and results. The seven category awards, the overall William H. Donner Award for Excellence in the Delivery of Social Services, and the Peter F. Drucker Award for Non-Profit Management were presented by the Honourable David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, on Friday December 6, 2013 in the offices of the Lieutenant Governor at Queen's Park in Toronto.
This is the second year that Elephant Thoughts Educational Outreach has been awarded a Donner award for Excellence in the Delivery of Education. In the past, they have also won an Ashoka Changemakers Award for Inspiring Approaches to First Nations and Inuit Learning.
Elephant Thoughts Educational Outreach is a charitable organization, created by teachers and run by teachers, which promotes sustainability and excellence in education for all - despite geographic or economic barriers. Elephant Thoughts Educational Outreach promotes and celebrates cultural diversity and the values of environmental stewardship. They offer sustainable educational solutions to increase the levels of inspired learning with tools and resources such as community wide educational programs, school improvement support, workshops for students from kindergarten to grade 12, mentoring and graduate support, including professional development for teachers and principals.
