Chetan and Clara Mathur make additional gift to the Berlin Mathur Charitable Fund at Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children

HONOLULU, Feb. 14, 2013 /CNW/ - Chetan and Clara Mathur, who established the Berlin Mathur Charitable Fund less than two years ago to provide financial support and care to patients and families at Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children, have made an additional substantial gift to the nonprofit hospital.

"We are humbly grateful to the Mathur Family for their continued support of Kapi'olani and our families," said Martha Smith, chief operating officer at Kapi'olani Medical Center. "Their generosity will help us provide critical resources to our patients and financial support to our families at their time of greatest need."

"We are moved time and again, to support Kapi'olani Medical Center and their mission to provide the highest quality health care to the families of Hawai'i and the Pacific," said Chetan Mathur. "We are proud to be helping families with support that extends the excellent care provided by the hospital's doctors and staff."

Their new gift will continue to help patient families with expenses related to their child's medical care. Since 2011, the fund has helped many patient families with essential support such as reimbursement for air travel, and medical co-payments. The Mathur's newest donation will also help Kapi'olani purchase child-friendly furniture for the hospital's Pediatric Play Room, a critical place of healing and education for patients.

Chetan and Clara Mathur are Canadian entrepreneurs and philanthropists. They are founders of Next Pathway, a technology consulting firm. The Mathurs are patrons of Luminato, Toronto's Festival of Creativity & Arts and leading and inaugural donors to Bell Lightbox, home of Toronto's International Film Festival.
