Canadians Vote With Their Noses and Identify the Smelliest Summer Place in Canada: Prairies Top the List, followed by Ontario, Atlantic Canada

Smell Grabber™ is the solution for all of them!

TORONTO, June 24, 2014 /CNW/ - Canadians have voted with their noses and the most anticipated smelliest province or region in the country during the hot days of summer is the Prairies—Manitoba and Saskatchewan—according to a new national poll released today by Earth Innovations Inc. Next in the stinky hall of fame was Ontario followed by Atlantic Canada, British Columbia, Québec and Alberta.

In the survey produced for Smell Grabber™, Canadians were asked to imagine 3 or 4 days straight of 30 degree Celsius or more heat and to consider 10 things or places in or around their own residence that could give off an odour and to the extent these could get smelly- really smelly, somewhat smelly, not really smelly or not at all smelly. The survey, conducted by Ipsos Reid, combined the results per province/region to determine the ranked outcome. For those things or places measured by residents, the stinkometer national average and the top anticipated origins were:

  • Garbage can or communal garbage bin/chute (79%): Prairies (91%)
  • A sports bag for the gym/hockey/baseball (65%): Prairies (70%)
  • A diaper pail (64%): Quebec (70%)
  • Your pet's litter box (57%): Prairies (61%)
  • The outside air in your community (36%): Ontario (41%)
  • Carpets or area rugs (29%): Quebec and Atlantic Canada (both at 32%)
  • Your bathroom/toilet area (29%): Prairies (40%)
  • Your basement (26%): Ontario (32%)
  • Kids' bedroom (25%): Atlantic Canada (31%)
  • Your refrigerator (17%): British Columbia (24%)

"The makers of Smell Grabber™ are excited by the results of the survey," exclaimed Stephen Coates, President, Earth Innovations Inc. "We're not happy that there are so many smelly places in your house, but we are excited that we have a solution for each and every one of the offending odours. Smell Grabber™ is the first product in a line of deodorizers that naturally and safely eliminate odours from your garbage can and compost through to your kids' carpets and animal cages."

Smell Grabber™ eliminates these odours without artificial masking agents or harmful chemicals. Made from an all-natural volcanic mineral, Smell Grabber™ tackles the offensive smell at the source. Unlike air fresheners that only mask odours, Smell Grabber™ absorbs odorous gases, trapping them in a honeycomb-like molecular structure of the mineral.  Simple Grade 11 chemistry!

In laboratory tests, Smell Grabber™ was proven to be 19.1 times more effective than baking soda at absorbing ammonia - one of the most common offending gases where we work, live and play.  Note: we only say "10x" on the product, because we thought 19.1 sounded just too fantastic!  And the best part? Smell Grabber™ is nontoxic and safe to use around pets and children, and is now available exclusively at Home Depot locations across Canada.
