Canadian Country Music Association® Announces Adam Gregory As 2013 Slaight Music Humanitarian Award Recipient

Edmonton native celebrated for outstanding work on behalf of countless charitable organizations

TORONTO, July 30, 2013 /CNW/ - The Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) announced today that CCMA and JUNO Award nominated artist, Adam Gregory, has been awarded the 2013 Slaight Music Humanitarian Award.

"A distinguished member of the Canadian country music industry for the last decade, Adam Gregory has played a role in improving the lives of many in Canada." said Chair of the CCMA Board of Directors, Ted Ellis. "His involvement with the Ronald McDonald House of Alberta has demonstrated his incredible dedication to community involvement and we are proud to be celebrating his successes this year."

Adam Gregory began his music career at the age of 13 and has since earned accolades across North America for the honest storytelling of his music. With two Top 40 hits in the United States and continued success in Canada, Gregory has released five full-length albums, one of which was certified gold in Canada.  He has amassed four CCMA Award nominations (Rising Star/Male Artist of the Year/Album of the Year/Fans' Choice Award) and two JUNO Award nominations (Best Country Male Artist/Best New Solo Artist).

Leveraging his success both in Canada and the United States, Gregory has lent his talent to a long list of charitable organizations including Make A Wish Foundation, Stollery Children's Telethon and the Canadian Kidney Foundation for fundraising purposes and the results have been nothing short of astounding.

One of Gregory's greatest accomplishments is his commitment to support the Ronald McDonald House® Central Alberta. Recognizing the need for this type of support in Red Deer, Gregory was quick to establish Adam Helps The House - Ronald McDonald Benefit, an annual event that has raised more than $180,000.

"I feel incredibly privileged to be receiving this award," said Gregory. "With our annual fundraising initiative for the Ronald McDonald House Central Alberta celebrating its 10th anniversary next year, we are honoured to share this award with the incredible nurses, doctors, parents and patients who make all of our work worthwhile."

"On the occasion of country music star Adam Gregory receiving the 2013 Slaight Music Humanitarian Award, I would like to congratulate Adam for his ongoing commitment to humanitarian and charitable causes," said President & CEO of Slaight Communications, Gary Slaight. "Adam represents everything that the Slaight Music Humanitarian Award is intended to celebrate. In selflessly giving, Adam has helped and inspired many."

Adam Gregory will receive the Award during this year's Country Music Week at the CCMA Gala Dinner & Awards presentation, which takes place at an industry event on Saturday, September 7th in Edmonton, Alberta.
