Calabrian Benevolent Association of Ontario pledges $500,000 for the New Humber River Hospital

TORONTO, Oct. 24, 2013 /CNW/ - The Calabrian Benevolent Association of Ontario (CBAO) yesterday announced a generous pledge of $500,000 in support of the NEW Humber River Hospital - North America's first fully digital hospital. The lounge outside of the new hospital's Cardiology Clinic will be named in recognition of CBAO's investment in the health of our community.

CBAO founders and supporters gathered at the Joseph D. Carrier Art Gallery, Columbus Centre, to celebrate the CBAO pledge.

"We are proud to support Humber River Hospital with this very special and needed gift," said Ralph Chiodo, CBAO Chair. "As a local community association of Calabrian professionals and entrepreneurs, we are making this donation because it is the right thing to do.  We hope this pledge will serve to inspire others to join us in supporting this new important hospital. CBAO's donation is in recognition of the hospital's service to the Italian community," concluded Chiodo.

"The CBAO members share an incredible passion for our community," said HRH President & CEO Rueben Devlin, "and today's announcement highlights their desire to give back, to make a difference. It's inspiring to see so many community leaders come together with a common purpose, and to know that patients and families facing difficult issues will benefit from their compassion."

"We applaud the CBAO for their generosity, for their leadership and for their commitment to our hospital and its future," said Eddy Battiston, Chair, Humber River Hospital Foundation Board of Directors. "This gift is a tremendous demonstration of community in action.  Their belief in our shared vision to bring accessible, world-class healthcare to its surrounding communities is demonstrated through their deeds.  We feel privileged that the Calabrian Benevolent Association of Ontario is championing our cause."
