Unique resort adds new experience to list of exceptional outdoor
GLEN SUTTON, QC, May 15, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Au Diable Vert, a unique
four-season outdoor resort located in Québec's Eastern Townships, today
launched 'VéloVolant' - the 'Flying Bike', a 45-minute pedal-powered
canopy tour through the treetops of this spectacular 130-hectare
property, between the summits of Mont Sutton, Jay Peak and Owl's Head.
'VéloVolant' is a pedal-powered tour that enables each person to enjoy a
one-kilometer circuit at their own pace. (Please see video at www.velovolant.com.) Suspended from a steel cable, 'VéloVolant' offers an unprecedented
appreciation of forest life from heights ranging up to 30 meters.
The 'VéloVolant' experience is unique in Canada. Riders enjoy the
opportunity to observe the natural panorama in harmony. This ecological
tour makes it possible to appreciate wildlife, waterfalls, streams,
more than 15 types of trees, ravines and cliffs - without the intrusive
noise of a motorized vehicle.
'VéloVolant' is safe. The state-of-the-art infrastructure resembles a
modern chairlift at a ski resort. Based on patented technology, the
horizontal cable is composed of 144 individual strands of steel and can
support 10 metric tons, or approximately five mid-size automobiles. Up
to 20 riders may use 'VéloVolant' at the same time. Riders are secured
in their seats and assisted by guides at the beginning and end of the
circuit. 'VéloVolant' is fun and virtually effortless - requiring no
cycling expertise. The minimum requirement is 12 years of age.
"We believe that 'VéloVolant' is one of the most innovative offerings in
ecotourism in Canada today," says Jeremy Fontana, Co-Owner, Au Diable
Vert. "We live and work in a region of exceptional natural beauty.
Furthermore, the Eastern Townships are a well-established tourist
destination and the town of Sutton is an authentic mountain village. As
a four season resort, we need to innovate in order to remain
competitive. We hope that 'VéloVolant' will draw visitors who come
exclusively for the experience - particularly on weekends. For our
overnight and weekday guests, 'VéloVolant' adds a new dimension to the
numerous outdoor, recreational and sporting activities we proudly
continue to offer," concludes Mr. Fontana.
'VéloVolant' will hold its official Grand Opening on May 21 at 1:00 PM.
