AMI documentary features an in-depth portrayal of one of America's most interesting cities

TORONTO, May 14, 2013 /CNW/ - Accessible Media Inc. (AMI) announced today that it will repeat a four-part documentary depicting the culture, music, food and people of New Orleans. AMI-audio staffers Joe Lamanna and Paul Daniel go on location to capture the heart and soul of one of America's most interesting cities and produce New Orleans: The City That Care Forgot.

Back by popular demand, this repeat performance kicks off with a look at the ever popular and sometimes infamous annual Mardi Gras celebration along with a visit to legendary Antoine's restaurant. Episode two focuses on the music representative of the region including interviews with Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Dr. John, Trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis and R&B legend Clarence "Frogman" Henry. Literature is the theme for episode three with pilgrimages to Saint Louis Cemetery #1 and renowned Hotel Monteleone followed by a visit to WRBH, the radio reading serviced for the blind in New Orleans. The four-part exclusive concludes with a look at the challenges - poverty, crime and post-Hurricane Katrina recovery - faced by the city as well as its triumphs.

Joe Lamanna, AMI-audio's Manager, National Programming explains how they came up with the unique title for the series. "New Orleans has several nicknames, "The Big Easy", "Crescent City" as well as "The City That Care Forgot".  And it's that last one that caught our attention.  Through our research and after our trip there to New Orleans, we found out what the expression means and it refers to the way New Orleanians live life.  They have a very laid back demeanor, live life to the fullest and appreciate their culture, the music, the food, their friends and their family.   And that's what I think we get across in our documentary.  It's a cross section of all the things that make New Orleans the most interesting city in America."

New Orleans: The City That Care Forgot airs on AMI-audio Sunday, May 19 from 2pm - 4pm (episodes 1 and 2) and Monday, May 20 from 10am - noon (episodes 3 and 4).
