Bargainmoose.ca partners with Canada's top retailers to waive shipping charges.
WINNIPEG, Dec. 5, 2012 /CNW/ - The second annual online event known as
"No Minimum Monday," gets under way on December 10th. The promotion inaugurated and arranged by Canadian shopping
community, Bargainmoose.ca. sees scores of Canadian stores offering
completely free shipping on online purchases to help consumers find some bargains in the run-up to Christmas. "No
Minimum Monday" will also eliminate the spend threshold retailers often
require for free shipping.
Eleanor Salinas, co-ordinator of the free shipping event on
Bargainmoose.ca, says, "People hate paying more than they have to for
something they buy, and that's what shipping fees are viewed as, an
extra annoying cost." Salinas continues, "I'm pretty excited to see
some of the big brand names who are offering totally free shipping this
year. Brand names such as Roots, Snapfish, Sony and Dell are in the
listings for this year's event."
To accompany the free shipping event, BargainMoose is launching a handy
dashboard page that shows all stores with free shipping in one place.
In addition to bringing on board many stores which don't usually offer
free shipping in Canada, the page will also collate the retailers who
offer free shipping as a matter of course, such as Lenovo and Dyson.
With the currently ongoing gloomy economic backdrop, consumers are
constantly looking for ways to still have the things they want, but
spend less in doing so. Free shipping is a great incentive, as they can
also shop in the comfort of their own home. Salinas continued, "The
average consumer intends to spend around $865 this holiday season, but
none of that has to be spent on excessive shipping fees!"
A recent survey from Ernst & Young revealed that Canadian holiday retail
sales in 2012 are due to be 3.5% higher than last year, with clothing
stores and electronics retailers apparently to claim the majority of
the spending. And according to the latest consumer confidence survey
undertaken by TNS (Nov 2012), consumers are showing an increase in
Salinas concludes, "As a shopper, shipping fees are often a barrier to
buying. It limits where I'm willing to shop at and what I buy. If there
is a hurdle to get free shipping (such as a minimum spend), I won't
bother buying if I don't like enough items. I do however pay for
shipping as long as I'm sure I like the products and the shipping
process is good. No Minimum Monday is a great opportunity to allow
shoppers try out online stores that they may not have used before, and
see what the service is like - without worrying about shipping at all."
Bargainmoose is one of the top Canadian online shopping communities, where thousands
of like-minded shoppers gather to find and share all the best shopping
bargains and coupon codes. Recently ranked within the top 1000 websites
in Canada according to Alexa, Bargainmoose has helped 4 million
