Savouring summer

Want to host the perfect barbecue? This year's summer Insider's Report is packed with delectable ideas to throw the perfect summer bash, picnic or gourmet soirée - from delicious appetizers and juicy burgers to thirst-quenching drinks and ice cream to help beat the heat. Here are some stand-outs from the 2010 President's Choice summer Insider's Report:

    - Slide into flavour! Just in time for barbecue season comes NEW MUST
TRY! PC(R) Angus Sliders Mini Beef Burgers made with succulent Angus
beef and weighing in at one-and-a-half ounces each. Similar mini
burgers have been seen on menus in trendy restaurants around the
world and it's clear they are big crowd-pleasers. Really, why have
one big burger when you can have three mini ones? They're great as
appetizers or as a meal, and they're the perfect size for kids, too.
Add different toppings to give your sliders a twist - try a Korean
BBQ, Jamaican Jerk or Szechwan Satay slider - get these recipes and
16 more delicious slider topping ideas at pc.ca

    - Just fruit and bubbles! What delivers that satisfying zing of soda -
with two full servings of fruit per can and no added sugar? It's the
NEW MUST TRY! PC(R) 100% Sparkling Fruit Juice from concentrate, a
refreshing combination of juice and bubbles that will blast your
senses with bold fruit flavours. There's no added artificial flavours
or colours either, so families can feel good about stocking these in
the fridge. Plus the 250 mL slim-line can is the ideal size for
        lunches, picnics and gym bags

    - Get a taste of "Chile" this summer: In 2006, Chile beat Italy for the
prestigious Sol D'Oro Prize for the World's Best Olive Oil. Our NEW
MUST TRY! PC(R) New World EVOO Extra Virgin Olive Oil originates from
the same award-winning region, where olive groves have been
cultivated for more than 400 years

    - Surrender to summer: Bite-size mini-tarts with a melt-in-your mouth
sweet dough crust and rich, creamy fillings are perfect for summer
entertaining. NEW MUST TRY! PC(R) Mini Tarts don't compromise on
flavour: the raspberry tart is made with real raspberries, the key
lime is made with Key West lime juice and the chocolate version is
outrageously chocolatey. Simply thaw and serve

    - A rainbow of tastes! The President's Choice brand's amazing product
developers scoured well-known ice cream shops and even smaller mom
and pop parlours all over North America to create the NEW MUST TRY!
PC(R) Ice Cream Shop flavours. These 14 irresistible flavours - like
Sprinkle Party Cake, Cotton Candy and Mint Chocolate - bring back
those fun trips to the ice cream shop and are sure to hit the spot on
a hot summer day. We're talking REAL ice cream made with 100 per cent
Canadian cream - no frozen dessert here!

"Canadians deserve to know what they're eating and where it comes from, which is why Canadian dairy farmers believe ice cream should be made using real cream produced here in Canada," says Jacques Laforge, President, Dairy Farmers of Canada. "Dairy Farmers of Canada is proud to work with Loblaw in providing Canadians with a variety of ice cream flavours made from 100 per cent Canadian milk. Consumers can be confident in the fact that if they see the 100% Canadian Milk symbol, they can be guaranteed that their dairy products are made from fresh, high-quality milk farmed and processed here in Canada."
