Tourisme Montréal, proud partner of Mosaïcultures Internationales Montréal 2013 - Announcing $200,000 in financial support

MONTREAL, Feb. 4, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Following a 10-year hiatus, the horticultural art exhibition, Mosaïcultures Internationales Montréal 2013 (MIM2013) featuring the theme, World of Hope, will return the Montréal Botanical Garden this coming June 22 to September 29. Considered to be one of the most important cultural events of summer 2013, Tourisme Montréal is proud to provide this event with financial assistance in the amount of $200,000, in addition to assisting with its international promotion and visibility.

An exceptional window of opportunity for Montréal, this horticultural competition will feature some 40 astonishing two and three dimensional living sculptures created by over 200 talented horticultural artists from Europe, Asia, the Americas, the Middle East and Africa. These sculptures and a creative arrangement of over three million flowers and plants will comprise a dazzling 2-km circuit through the Montréal Botanical Garden, thus boosting Montréal's tourist offering in a most original, and natural, way.

"I am absolutely thrilled that Mosaïcultures Internationales® has returned to make our city blossom in 2013. It goes without saying that the beauty of these original works by talented horticultural artists will not only captivate local Montrealers, but will also serve to attract visitors from around the world. That's why Tourisme Montréal is proud to support this event," underlined the Honourable Charles Lapointe, President and Chief Executive Officer of Tourisme Montréal.

Above and beyond its financial support of $200,000, Tourisme Montréal will provide MIM2013 with great visibility through its various marketing tools, such as its website, tourist guides and different social media channels. Advertising campaigns targeting the leisure travel market launched prior to the summer tourist season will also showcase the event.

"Tourisme Montréal has always been a prime partner of Mosaïcultures Internationales de Montréal since the event's creation in 2000, said Lise Cormier, President and General Manager of MIM. Furthermore, through its promotion of editions held in Montréal, on the United States market and the rest of Canada, it also drives our success and international expansion, which grows hand in hand with Montréal's own evolution. Needless to say, we are extremely grateful."

Presented in the Parc des Écluses du Vieux-Port de Montréal in 2003, the Mosaïcultures Internationales de Montréal enjoyed great success and welcomed over 755,000 visitors. Organizers of the 2013 edition predict that visitor numbers will rise to one million this year. The provincial economic impact associated with this event alone is estimated at $46.2 million.
