WHITECOURT, AB, June 17, 2013 /CNW/ - Alliance Pipeline has announced a
$40,000 donation to Camp Health, Hope and Happiness (Camp He Ho Ha).
Alliance Pipeline's Whitecourt Area Manager, Gord Johnson, announced the
donation last Friday, at the yearly Golf Classic and Charity Fundraiser
hosted by George VanderBurg, MLA for Whitecourt-Ste. Anne and Alberta's
Associate Minister of Seniors. The donation will pay for the purchase
of a new passenger transport van to help ensure safe transportation for
Camp He Ho Ha participants.
"Camp He Ho Ha provides a unique and vital service within the province
of Alberta", said Rob Gray, who oversees Alliance's Community
Investment Program. "As part of Alliance Pipeline's ongoing commitment
to the community, we saw this as an important way to invest in safety
and at the same time help enrich the lives of Albertans who struggle
The donation is being made through Alliance's Community Investment
Program which provides financial and volunteer support for initiatives
and programs that focus on safety, community development, energy
education, environmental stewardship and leadership development in the
areas where Alliance operates.
Camp He Ho Ha provides a meaningful recreational experience for its
campers and an important respite for care givers. Alliance's donation
will be used to purchase a much-needed new van to transport campers to
and from the facility.
Joan Nielsen, Executive Director of the camp, said, "This generous
donation will make an immediate difference to camp participants and
employees. At a time when non-profits are feeling the funding pinch, we
would not be able to continue providing safe service without the
support of community leaders like Alliance Pipeline. We thank them for
their commitment to making a positive impact in the community".
Camp He Ho Ha is the only camp in Alberta that provides safe and
rewarding recreational opportunities to youth and adults who have any
type and any degree of disability or illness. The camp is located on
Lake Isle and accepts over 750 individuals each summer. The facility
offers a wheelchair accessible indoor swimming pool, an 18 hole
mini-golf course, a state of the art three-sided 40 foot climbing wall,
a high ropes course, a low wheelchair accessible ropes course and much
Alliance Pipeline owns and operates a 3,700 kilometer rich natural gas
transmission system between the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin and
the Chicago market hub. Since Alliance Pipeline commenced operations in
2000, the company has contributed more than $17 million dollars towards
community investment initiatives and programs in the communities across
