Last weekend before Christmas sees WestJet guests travelling in record
CALGARY, Dec. 21, 2012 /CNW/ - WestJet today announced it will fly 57,464 guests today, setting a new
single-day record for guests travelling with the airline.
"Whether our guests are travelling home to see friends and family or
taking advantage of a great vacation package to the sun, we're pleased
to welcome them on board today," said Bob Cummings, WestJet Executive
Vice-President, Sales, Marketing and Guest Experience. "In a year
filled with important milestones, a record-setting day is a testament
to the work of WestJetters across our network. My thanks go to all
WestJetters who continue to deliver a remarkable guest experience. I
would also like to thank those guests who have chosen to fly with us
during the Christmas season and throughout the year."
Across the airline's network, WestJetters have been getting into the
holiday spirit by volunteering their time with its WestJet Cares for Kids partner charities. At this busy time of year, WestJetters who work in
the airline's Calgary campus and in offices across the country also
offer their time to help in airports, helping guests use kiosks and
agents drop off and sort baggage.
Earlier this month, the airline unveiled its WestJet Christmas Flash mob where WestJet employees turned the D-wing of Calgary International
Airport into Santa's workshop, spreading Christmas cheer just before a
sold-out red-eye flight to Toronto earlier this month.
WestJet is Canada's most preferred airline, offering scheduled service
to 81 destinations in North America, Central America and the Caribbean.
Powered by an award-winning culture of care, WestJet has pioneered
low-cost flying in Canada. Recognized nationally as a top employer,
WestJet now has more than 9,000 WestJetters across Canada. Operating a
fleet of 100 Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft with future confirmed
deliveries for an additional 35 Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft
through 2018 and plans to launch a low-cost regional airline in 2013,
WestJet strives to be one of the five most successful international
airlines in the world.
