Vaughan CPA named Fellow to the profession

Rai Nandan, FCPA, FCGA recognized for his outstanding professional and community contributions

TORONTO, Oct. 2, 2014 /CNW/ - The Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario is proud to announce the appointment of Rai Nandan, FCPA, FCGA, as one of its new Fellows. These accomplished chartered professional accountants are among today's leading accounting and finance professionals, proudly representing their profession and designation.

The FCPA designation is a prestigious honorary designation awarded to CPAs who, through their outstanding achievements including community leadership, bring distinction to the accounting profession and serve as a role model to others. FCPAs are nominated by their peers, who have recognized their exemplary qualities and contributions. A resident of Vaughan, Rai serves communities through his skills as a professional accountant. Rai has been involved with CGA Ontario in various capacities since the mid-1980s, serving the Toronto region on professional development and public practice committees. He has written and contributed to CGA Ontario media and editorial efforts, the annual tax planning guide and other tax and estate planning matters. He has conducted numerous presentations and seminars.

He is also a volunteer member of the Canada Revenue Agency, Toronto West Practitioners Consultation Group, representing CGAs in practice from 2000-02 and 2008-14; and a board member of York Condo Corporation, currently serving as President. A mentor to young business entrepreneurs, Rai supports newly designated accountants who are starting their own public accounting firms. Furthermore, he is a respected lecturer for accounting and income tax courses at Centennial, Humber, and Seneca colleges.

Actively engaged with his religious community, Rai is a board member and member of the audit committee. He has advised various church boards on changes in the not-for-profit laws and governance issues. He presents financial workshops for his church and sister ministries where he has been able to teach, direct and inform attendees on their finances. He always takes time to mentor members who are considering careers in accounting.
