MONTREAL, Oct. 10, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Ultra Electronics, TCS is pleased
to announce that it has received a multi-million award from US Army
Warfighter Information Network-Tactical (WIN-T) for Ultra ORION
GRC-245C radio systems. These will address terrestrial transmission
requirements of the Tactical Network Modernization for Army
Expeditionary Signal Battalions (ESB) to allow soldiers to seamlessly
communicate between WIN-T Increments and across echelons.
Designed to interoperate with the AN/GRC-245A/B HCLOS radios of WIN-T
Inc. 1, the GRC-245C system also complements the WIN-T Inc. 2
architecture by providing longer range, higher capacity links that help
meet the significant bandwidth demands of Transport Convergence on the
tactical network. The GRC-245C is designed to thicken the terrestrial
transport layer to enhance the performance of Army Mission Command and
ISR applications while lessening the burden on Beyond Line-of-Sight
systems thus reducing latency, resolving inefficiencies in the network,
and providing commanders greater access to critical mission data and
enhanced situational awareness of the battle space.
The GRC-245C radio is a high capacity, multi-channel, multi-band,
point-to-point, and point-to-multipoint radio system with on-the-move
capabilities. It is able to effectively link the various WIN-T
Increments while simultaneously provide sufficiently high-capacity
throughput to support the Army's Transport Convergence objectives.
