Ukrainian Businesswoman Olha Solonevych Urges World Bank to Vacate Kiev Premises

KYIV, Ukraine, Sept. 29, 2014 /CNW/ - Ukrainian activist and businesswoman Olha Solonevych has appealed to the World Bank with a request to stop renting its Kyiv offices. The appeal was announced in Ms Solonevych's open letter, accompanied by a video (

Olga Solonevych is a cofounder of Lira 2000 LLC, a company which owns the controversial office center rented by the World Bank. She claims she was deprived of her 25% share in the company in 2009.

On September 11 Ms. Solonevych held an open press-conference in Kyiv during which she urged the leadership of the Ukrainian branches of the World Bank (IBRD and IFC) to reconsider their relations with Ukrainian owned companies. To date, neither the World Bank Country Director for Ukraine, Qimiao Fan, nor IFC Country Director for Ukraine, Olena Voloshyna, have replied to Ms. Solonevych's enquiries.

Lira-2000 LLC was established in 2000 by the former Head Architect of Kyiv, Mr. Sergey Babushkin (25,7%), his wife at the time - Ms. Olga Solonevych (24,3%) and the citizen of Russia – Mr. Igor Bobnev (50%).

Earlier in September Ms. Solonevych launched an on-line platform Business Against Raiders ( which aims to fight corporate raiding and corruption on a national scale in Ukraine.
