MONTREAL, June 3, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Accès Fleuve / Comité ZIP Ville-Marie, organizer of the Tour de la Route Bleue, considers the 2014 edition a great success on most of way. The activity consisted in paddling canoes and kayaks on the Montreal waterbodies over the weekend to promote access to the river !
Two days, two groups, two routes
More than 50 ambassadors were divided into two groups and put their crafts in the water in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue. They subsequently navigated on two separate routes, the first group went north of the island on the Rivière des Prairies and the second south of the island on Lac Saint-Louis.
The first group of Ambassador unfortunately were not able to join the Relais Rivière due to cancellation. They still managed to navigate the waters of the Rivière des Prairies and do a bit of urban camping Saturday night. They subsequently circumnavigated the parc du Bout-de-l'Île, and joined ranks with the other group upon arrival.
The second group, navigating the waters of lac Saint-Louis and the fleuve Saint-Laurent, merged in with citizens participating in the Descente du lac Saint-Louis taking place during the afternoon of Saturday, May 31st. This aspect of the activity, destined to allow the public to participate, was carried out in partnership with the Rowing Club of Lachine, the Pointe-Claire Canoe Club and the École de voile de Lachine, along with the Arrondissement Lachine and the City of Pointe-Claire.
The two day weekend formula, was a revised concept for the Tour and allowed for a greater number of committed citizens to participate. In all, more than 200 people registered for the various activities of the Tour Route Bleue 2014.
A grand arrival
The two groups came together at the end of their journey at the parc de la Promenade-Bellerive, in the arrondissement Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, where Mayor Mrs. Chantal Rouleau, member of the executive committee, responsible for water and water infrastructures, took the floor to congratulate our ambassadors and share her vision of an accessible river for all the citizens of Montreal.

The Route Bleue du Grand Montréal is one of its major projects promoting the access to the river.
