This summer, Montréal Space for Life sees big! The Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium welcomes 100,000 visitors and works bigger than nature at the Botanical Garden

MONTREAL, June 26, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - As the summer skies settle over the Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium, the Montréal Space for Life is preparing to welcome the 100,000th visitor to its newest facility; meanwhile, in the Botanical Garden, giants of the horticultural art world are outdoing one another with their spectacular works of mosaïculture.

100,000 visitors already blown away by the Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium
Less than three months after opening, the Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium is set to welcome its 100,000th visitor! The decision to unite science with art and emotion has paid off big-time for Space for Life. Young* or old, and whether interested in architecture, design, astronomy, multimedia or technology—visitors are praising the new star of Space for Life to the heavens.

"The response of visitors has been extremely positive. This is shown in the great turnout, but beyond the figures, we are most proud of the emotions that a visit to the Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium can provoke. We wanted to offer an experience that would touch people while getting them to think about our place in the Universe. To see the reactions of the 100,000 people who have already visited, we can say that we have achieved our goal," observes Charles-Mathieu Brunelle, Executive Director of Space for Life.

Mosaïcultures Internationales de Montréal 2013 at the Botanical Garden: A larger-than-life experience
From June 22 to September 29, 2013, after a ten-year absence, Mosaïcultures Internationales returns to Montréal. This international competition is a spectacular event that attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors to each of its editions. Based on the theme of Land of Hope—an illustration of the beauty and richness of life on earth used to raise visitors' awareness of the importance of preserving biodiversity—50 or so larger-than-life horticultural sculptures created by representatives of some 30 countries will take shape along the trails of the Montréal Botanical Garden, one of the largest and most prestigious of its kind in the world, along a 2.2 km circuit.
