TORONTO, Nov. 1, 2013 /CNW/ - Canada Health Infoway (Infoway) and Allscripts announced today that Sunrise Ambulatory Care™ Module versions 5.5, 6.0 and 6.1 have achieved Infoway's J-class, Laboratories and Clinical Documents Ambulatory Electronic Medical Record (EMR) certification, ensuring it conforms to national and international standards for privacy, security and interoperability.

"We commend Allscripts on their achievement of J-class, Laboratories and Clinical Documents Ambulatory EMR certification for their product, Sunrise Ambulatory Care Module," says Richard Alvarez, President and CEO, Canada Health Infoway.  "This achievement demonstrates to the Ambulatory EMR market in Canada that this product has undergone the assessment processes set by Infoway Certification Services and that it conforms to the national and international standards for privacy, security and interoperability, as well as the interoperability standards for Laboratory and Clinical documents."

"The Canada Health Infoway certification for our Sunrise Ambulatory Care Module paves the way for us to bring the product's innovative capabilities to the Canadian health system," says Mark Hubbell, Allscripts Managing Director for Canada. "The comprehensive solution will enhance interoperability and improve efficiency across Canadian health organizations, helping clinicians provide better care to patients."

The Sunrise Ambulatory Care Module supports clinicians efforts to offer care across multiple venues through every stage of care and administration. As patients transition between healthcare settings, the Module provides visibility to information regarding current orders, medications and results, fostering informed decision-making.

Infoway's strategic efforts to hasten EMR adoption and use at the point of care, both in community and out-patient care settings, leverages and connects to the work that has already been done to build electronic health record systems.
