Statement by the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), on the Announcement of Taekwondo Members of the 2012 Canadian Olympic Team Français
OTTAWA, May 25, 2012 /CNW/ - Congratulations to the taekwondo athletes who have earned their spots on the 2012 Canadian Olympic Team: Karine Sergerie, Francois Coulombe-Fortier, and Sebastien Michaud.
These young athletes have been training hard, devoting time and energy in order to qualify for the highest level of sport competition at the London 2012 Olympic Games. They all hail from the province of Quebec, where they have been working with Olympic Team Head Coach Alain Bernier in Quebec City.
The Harper Government is pleased to support Olympic sports and our Canadian Olympic athletes, who are an enormous source of pride for all Canadians. As the largest single contributor to sport in this country, we are proud to support sport participation and excellence from the playground to the podium.
As Minister of State (Sport), I wish all the best to our Canadian Olympic Team athletes as they prepare for the Games. I would also like to thank the coaches, family, and officials who support and encourage the athletes who will proudly represent our country.
