Rotary Club of Toronto Special Centennial Lunch

Service above Self

The Rotary Club of Toronto is celebrating 100 years of service to the community.  During our Centennial year, we are donating in excess of $1,000,000 to local and international agencies!

TORONTO, Sept. 10, 2012 /CNW/ -

Special Centennial Lunch
September 14, 2012

Guest Speaker:  Dr. Judith Shamian, R.N. Ph.D. L.L.D. President and CEO of Victorian Order of Nurses, and President of the Canadian Nurses Association. " Back to the Future: 100 Years of Serving People and Communities"

Dr. Shamian  has published and spoken extensively nationally and internationally on a wide range of topics.  She is often called upon as an expert to speak to, and consult on, many issues surrounding nursing, health human resources, leadership, and health care policy by provincial and federal government departments and agencies, and internationally by other governments, academic bodies and the World Health Organization.

Program Highlight:
A $100,000 award will be presented to " Rotary Health and Wellness Centre", a program initiative of The Good Neighbours' Club.

The Rotary Health and Wellness Centre addresses the issues faced by the marginalized senior homeless men who have little or no access to vital health care services. Thanks to numerous health care volunteers, this vulnerable population will receive much needed medical services and support provided in a confidential and dignified environment.

The Rotary Club of Toronto is the local chapter of Rotary International, a volunteer-driven organization of business and professional leaders dedicated to improving communities through a range of humanitarian, intercultural and educational activities. The Toronto Rotary Club is one of the largest clubs in Canada and this year celebrates 100 years of service to the community.

Members of the public are welcome to attend.
