TORONTO, Nov. 14, 2014 /CNW/ - The Canadian energy industry is facing major change: Technological advances, market evolution and regulatory reforms are driving an unprecedented wave of innovation.

Under the title of "Transformation Underway," the annual conference of the Association of Power Producers of Ontario (APPrO) has recognized what's going on and announced notable new speakers and media-savvy participation options to enrich the conference experience and to help attendees grapple with the historic challenges facing the industry.

The conference features major figures in the power industry:
* Ontario Energy Minister Bob Chiarelli
* Ontario Energy Board Chair, Rosemarie Leclair
* Independent Electricity System Operator CEO, Bruce Campbell
* Vice Chair of CIBC World Markets, David Hay

Plus, recently-added to the APPrO conference line-up are more noteworthy experts:
* President of the Energy East Pipeline, Francois Poirier
* Respected political strategist, Brian Topp
* Vice President of the National Research Council of Canada, Ian Potter
… Along with more than 80 other authoritative speakers.

Shawn Cronkwright, the Director of Renewables Procurement at the OPA, will update delegates on the government's new Large Renewable Procurement process.

Participants will post questions for speakers through an online "engagement app," see their queries positioned along with others, and vote on them, in real time.

The APPrO program contains a range of never-before-assembled panels and will be for many the single best opportunity to gain insights and make connections in this key sector.

Taking place at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, November 18 and 19, the event is co-located with the inaugural Energy Storage Symposium and the Canadian Power Trade Show.
