/R E P E A T -- Media advisory - Closing of Walmart store in Jonquière in 2005 - The Quebec Employers Council will again be an intervener before the Supreme Court of Canada to defend employers' managerial rights in labour relations/

MONTREAL, Dec. 5, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The Quebec Employers Council will again act as an intervener for the employer's side before the Supreme Court of Canada in the latest legal proceedings between the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) and Walmart Canada following the closure of the Walmart store in Jonquière in 2005.

As it did when it first intervened in 2009, the Employers Council will be using the opportunity of its appearance before the highest court in the land to defend the managerial rights of employers in Quebec and Canada, by arguing in favour of a fair interpretation of the notion of a job conditions "freeze" under the provisions of Article 59 of the Québec Labour Code.

The Employers Council's Director of Legal Affairs, Me Guy-François Lamy, will be available before and after the hearing for interviews with media representatives.
