BRAMPTON, ON, Sept. 5, 2012 /CNW/ - Join the Ontario Heritage Trust, the City of Brampton and Friends of the Dale Estate for the unveiling of a provincial plaque commemorating the Dale Estate.

Date:   Wednesday, September 12, 2012
Time:   11 a.m.
Location:  Garden Square, Rose Theatre Brampton
1 Theatre Lane, Brampton

The Dale Estate was founded in 1863 as a small market garden and quickly grew to become the largest producer of cut flowers in Canada, specializing in roses. The Dale Estate was a major employer in Brampton during the late-19th and first half of the 20th century. The success of the Dale Estate supported a number of spin off businesses and promoted a growing greenhouse sector in the Peel Region. Though little physical evidence of the Dale Estate remains today, Brampton continues to celebrate its heritage as Canada's Flower City.

The Ontario Heritage Trust's Provincial Plaque Program commemorates significant people, places and events in Ontario's history. Since 1956, over 1,200 provincial plaques have been unveiled.
