JSOT charges Charles Iggulden and Peter Iggulden under the Securities Act
CALGARY, AB, Nov. 2, 2026 /CNW/ -- The Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) and the RCMP Federal Policing Northwest Region's Integrated Market Enforcement Team (IMET) announce that Charles Iggulden and Peter Iggulden of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, have been charged under the Securities Act (Alberta) following an investigation by the Joint Serious Offences Team (JSOT).
Charles and Peter Iggulden have been charged with:
- fraud contrary to section 93(1)(b) of the Securities Act (two counts against Charles Iggulden, one count against Peter Iggulden); and
- one count each of illegal distribution of securities contrary to section 110(1) of the Securities Act.
It is alleged that, between 2020 and 2023, Charles and Peter Iggulden raised funds from investors in exchange for voting shares of Infinity Petroleum Energy Resources Inc. (Infinity). Investors were led to believe that the funds would be used to finance biofuel facility development in Alberta and Africa. The funds were instead used for other purposes, including personal use. Investors did not receive the shares they were promised, nor were they repaid after requesting the return of their funds.
It is also alleged that Charles and Peter Iggulden made misleading statements to attract investment in Infinity and continued raising funds after Infinity was struck from the corporate registry in 2022.
The illegal distribution charges relate to allegations that Charles and Peter Iggulden accepted funds from investors in exchange for securities without filing and obtaining a receipt for a preliminary prospectus or prospectus, and without an available exemption under Alberta securities laws.
Their first appearance in court is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 3, 2026, at the Alberta Court of Justice, Fort Saskatchewan Court House, 10504 - 100 Ave., Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.
JSOT gratefully acknowledges the assistance of the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC), Fort Saskatchewan RCMP Detachment, St. Paul RCMP Detachment, the Guelph Police Service, the Abbotsford Police Department, and the Barrie Police Service in this matter.
