International Forum on Health - Good to go for the second edition in 2014!

MONTREAL, Oct. 28, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Over 700 experts from various backgrounds including the health and education sectors as well as industrial and business partners took part in the first edition of the International Forum on Health.  The Forum was organized by the Conférence des CHU du Québec in cooperation with partners of the health care system and the Palais des Congrès de Montréal.  The past few days have offered ideal conditions for sharing ideas, concepts and experiences as well as networking opportunities with the ultimate goal of finding new avenues to improve health care and services offered to the population.

Among the key thoughts that clearly emerged from the various exchanges, innovation and humanity were both primordial at the heart of all our actions.  We must pay close attention to patients and health teams: the patient partner is his own life expert and is in a unique position to give meaning to actions taken concerning his health.  Successful change will be achieved by involving the various health teams as projects will become easier to implement when health teams feel they are being heard and respected.  It is essential to answer the questions of all team members in order to efficiently implement change and foster innovation.  Lastly, the community should also be more involved in the health care system.

"Field experience is just as important as scientific knowledge," stated Dr. Fabrice Brunet, organizer of the International Forum on Health, President of the Conférence des CHU du Québec and Chief Executive Officer of Sainte-Justine University Hospital Centre.  "Efforts to change the health care system must be accompanied by a paradigm shift.  Today's competition is international and the age is past when we could work in isolation.  In order to improve personalized health care, public health services must evolve: the levels of education and training and the socio-economic aspects play a leading role when addressing this challenge and now is the time to take action," concluded Dr. Brunet.

The first edition of the IFH could never have happened without the valued support of our three major sponsors: CGI, Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton and TELUS.

It is hereby confirmed: the 2nd edition of the International Forum on Health will take place next October 7 to 9, 2014 at the Palais des congrès de Montréal and will welcome guest speakers from Australia, Cameroon, Canada, China, Egypt, Spain, the United States, France, India, Kenya, Morocco, Mexico, Qatar, Great Britain and Switzerland.

This 2nd edition will address such topics as personalized health, the impacts the economy has on health care systems, new technologies and new health care professions, a human dimension at the heart of transformation, international knowledge transfer networks and new institution and network management and governance models.

Discussions will continue on the social networks; don't hesitate to participate!
