For his first concert in Quebec: OMI performs at the International Balloon Festival

SAINT-JEAN-SUR-RICHELIEU, QC, April 20, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - The International Balloon Festival of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, presented by Laurentian Bank, is proud to announce OMI as a headliner of its upcoming 33^rd edition! Performing exclusively at the festival, the Jamaican pop artist OMI is scheduled to take the stage on Saturday August 20^th 2016. For his first show in Quebec, OMI will perform an irresistible mix of songs fresh off his debut album ME 4 U, released in October 2015, which features the breakout song "Cheerleader", dubbed the "Song of the Summer" by Billboard in 2015.

Blending crowd-pleasing pop and vibrant reggae music, OMI has rapidly become an international star since the release of "Cheerleader", which spent six weeks at the #1 spot on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, tying for the longest run at the top on the Hot 100 for a reggae song in more than 22 years. The song achieved triple platinum status in the U.S., snagged an incredible 500 million combined video views, streamed over 400 million times on Spotify, and quickly became a radio staple around the globe. OMI capped off 2015 impressively with a host of award nominations including an MTV VMA (Video Music Award), and a Teen Choice Award.

Following his meteoric success, OMI continues his rise by serving us the delectably catchy "Hula Hoop" as the album's newest single. He is excited to bring island flavor to the festival, and charm the crowd with his cool-headed countenance and smooth musical vibe. The artist will be surrounded by musicians and dancers who will definitely help transform the festival into one huge party. OMI will join already-announced performers, 2 Frères, Jean-Marc Parent, and Ariane Moffatt on this year's lineup. The duo 2 Frères, true folk sensations, will surely please fans of the genre. Benefitting from an enviable career, Ariane Moffatt will perform on stage at the festival for the first time, rejoicing organizers and guests alike. On the comedy side, Jean-Marc Parent, long-time friend of the International Balloon Festival of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, will once again entertain festival-goers.
