Fund | Current Risk Rating | New Risk Rating |
Fidelity U.S. Focused Stock Fund | Medium | Medium-to-High |
Fidelity U.S. Focused Stock Class | Medium | Medium-to-High |
Over the past decade, U.S. equity markets have broadly experienced significant periods of volatility driven by a range of factors, including global trade tensions, the COVID-19 pandemic, inflation concerns, interest rates and other events.
The change in the risk rating reflects this volatility and is consistent with regulatory requirements and the Canadian Securities Administrators' (CSA) risk classification methodology. Under the CSA methodology, funds with a 10-year standard deviation above 16% are classified as medium-to-high risk.
Despite the higher volatility, Fidelity U.S. Focused Stock Fund has delivered strong long-term performance. Over the past 10 years, it has returned 18.4%, outperforming the S&P 500 by 2.2% (net of Series F fees, as of September 30, 2026, in Canadian dollars). The Fund also has a 5-star Morningstar rating and has outperformed 97% of its category peers over 10 years. As the Class invests in the mutual fund trust, the return profiles of Fidelity U.S. Focused Stock Fund and Fidelity U.S. Focused Stock Class are substantially similar.
