TORONTO, June 4, 2013 /CNW/ - Domino's Pizza Barrie will receive a Fire
Safety Award from the Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council at a
ceremony on June 12, 2013 in Toronto. The annual Fire Safety Awards
recognize outstanding contributions to fire protection and prevention
For the last three years, Domino's Pizza Barrie has teamed up with
Barrie Fire and Emergency Services for fun and educational fire safety
activities during October, the same month that Fire Prevention Week
takes place. One such activity sees 16 lucky community residents have
their orders delivered by Barrie Fire and Emergency Services. During
the delivery, the fire service also checks to make sure the home has
working smoke alarms. If all alarms are functional, their entire
Domino's Pizza order is free. Every order delivered during the month of
October comes with a fire safety information card. In addition,
Domino's sets up a tent and gives away free pizza during the fire
department's very successful Home Escape Night. For this event, a fire truck drives down the street with siren
wailing. Families are encouraged to practise their home escape plan and
then come out for free pizza and a tour of the fire truck. Last year,
more than 200 people participated in Home Escape Night.
In the summer of 2012, Barrie Fire and Emergency Services started an
activity called Hot Summer Night. The activity saw the fire department at a different location every
Thursday evening during the month of August with their aerial truck.
They sprayed water for the kids to run through, while fire department
staff answered questions from the public. Once again, Domino's Pizza
provided free pizza for the neighbourhood families.
"Domino's Pizza is great supporter of fire safety through its ongoing
partnership with Barrie Fire and Emergency Services," said Ted
Wieclawek, Ontario Fire Marshal and Chair, Fire Marshal's Public Fire
Safety Council. "They are always happy to provide assistance whenever
the fire department asks and as a result, the residents of Barrie and
Simcoe County receive fire safety information in a fun and interactive
