Canadian Chefs say "Of Course!" 

TORONTO, June 17, 2013 /CNW/ - Three Canadian chefs are set to turn the barbeque world upside down. They are calling on all Canadians to put an unexpected ingredient on the barbeque this summer to liven up everyday grilling dishes - cream! Dairy Farmers of Canada (DFC), and its partners from Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, have teamed up with chefs Michael Allemeier of Calgary, Devan Rajkumar of Toronto and Richard Julien of Halifax to launch a series of easy and unique grilling recipes featuring cream. A versatile ingredient, cream is ideal for binding flavours and creating a luxurious texture for barbeque marinades, sauces and even grilled desserts.

"Summer is the time of year to head outside and slow down with friends and family. The art of grilling is perfect for the Canadian summer lifestyle," says chef Michael Allemeier. "This year, we're encouraging Canadians to expand their grilling repertoire by giving their food a boost with a touch of cream. It's the secret ingredient that will make their food stand out and dazzle guests!"

Each chef developed two new recipes and tips and tricks for how to add flavour and texture to grilled dishes, all found at  The website was designed by DFC and its partners to help busy Canadians put well-balanced, easy and delicious any day meals on the table.

"Cream combines flavours so beautifully," says chef Devan Rajkumar.  "So much so, with cream as an inspiration, we found it easy to dream up everyday appetizers, side dishes and even a grilled dessert."

About the Chefs
Chef Michael Allemeier is a Certified Chef de Cuisine (CCC), Canada's highest professional culinary accreditation designation, and is a member of the international food and wine organization La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs. Currently, he is mentoring the new generation of cooks at SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology).

Chef Devan Rajkumar is the executive chef at Bosch, Thermador and Gaggenau, Canada, and is branding chef for the critically acclaimed catering company, The Food Dudes. His passion for food and culinary matters come through in his work both as a chef, culinary instructor and high-end caterer.

Chef Richard Julien is the go-to chef in the Maritimes for culinary entertainment experiences.
