CIBC formalizes its long-term relationship with the young Canadian hockey star

TORONTO, March 1, 2016 /CNW/ - CIBC (TSX: CM) (NYSE: CM) is proud to announce a new partnership with hockey star and top draft pick Connor McDavid. McDavid, who has been a CIBC client his entire life, is now an official CIBC ambassador and spokesperson, supporting the bank's innovation platform with its wealth and retail clients. A team of CIBC advisors will continue to manage his finances.

"We're proud to welcome Connor to the CIBC team today as we enter into this long term partnership," says Stephen Forbes, Chief Commercial Officer, CIBC. "Connor is a tremendous young man who has the power to inspire and connect Canadians and we're excited to be part of his journey, as he embarks on this stage of his young professional hockey career."

"CIBC is my bank - my family and I have been with them for as long as I can remember. In fact, my dad banked with CIBC since before my brother and I were born," says McDavid. "I opened my first bank account when I was 12 at the CIBC branch in Newmarket, my hometown.  They have looked after me long before I played in the OHL or NHL.  I fully trust them to look after my financial needs going forward."

While the CIBC team helps manage Connor's banking and finance related needs, he'll be working off the ice to showcase CIBC's brand and how banking solutions fit into his busy lifestyle.

"We know Connor has the power to speak to all Canadians in a way that is relatable to their own experiences," adds Mr. Forbes. "So we asked for his take on everyday banking scenarios, and we're bringing these to life via content that shows how CIBC's innovations are making banking easier and more convenient for Connor."

"CIBC understands that outside of the rink, I'm just a pretty average 19 year old. So we're having a lot of fun incorporating my own twists that capture how  CIBC banking fits my life," adds McDavid.

The first video capturing Connor's journey with CIBC was released today and fans are encouraged to share it and tag @CIBC with #FitsYourLife.
