Seven well-deserving local organizations will receive funding from this annual event
CALGARY, June 11, 2014 /CNW/ - The annual Co-op Charity Golf Classic brings Calgary Co-op, its suppliers and its partners together for a highly anticipated event that raises much needed funds for local organizations. This event continues to be the cornerstone of Calgary Co-op's community investment initiatives – over the past 21 years it alone has raised over $4.4 million, which has all been re-invested in the Calgary community.
"This event is a great example of what it means to be a part of the community," said Laura Babin, Director of the Co-op Community Foundation, "We have a long history with this event and the funds raised help elevate and build meaningful partnerships. Plus, the event itself engages our employees who all have a strong affinity towards philanthropic initiatives."
The Co-op Community Foundation is pleased to announce the list of organizations that we will share over $300,000 in proceeds from this year's event:
- Mustard Seed
- Habitat for Humanity
- EMS Foundation
- Meals on Wheels
- MRU Kids University
Every year the Co-op Community Foundation reviews numerous applications from a range of well-deserving organizations.
Babin continued, "We're so proud to be able to continue our work with The Mustard Seed, EMS Foundation and Meals on Wheels. It's equally as rewarding to add organizations like the YWCA, Habitat for Humanity and MRU Kids University to the list of recipients."
A long list of suppliers and partners has helped make this event possible through their ongoing participation, including: Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals, Advantage Sales and Marketing, the Calgary Flames, Coca-Cola, Jack Links/Cytosport, Johnson Inc., McKesson Canada and Saputo.
The 22nd Annual Charity Golf Classic will be hosted next year, raising even more money for local charities and not-for-profits.
