TORONTO, Sept. 23, 2013 /CNW/ - Tim Talbott, President & CEO of Bird, is pleased to announce the following appointments.
Ian Boyd, P.Eng. is appointed to the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. In this role, Mr. Boyd will be responsible for the day-to-day operational functions of the organization and report to the CEO. Mr. Boyd became a Bird employee in 2008 when Bird acquired Rideau Construction and shortly thereafter, relocated to Alberta as Project Director on the very successful ASAP I project. He returned to Atlantic Canada in 2010 and assumed the role of Vice President Operations for the Halifax and Saint John districts, briefly, before becoming involved in the O'Connell operations for the past two years. Mr. Boyd's skill set, which has developed from over 20 years in the construction industry, is well suited for the challenges that Bird will face as we continue to expand the Company.
Jim Brennan, P.Eng. is appointed to the position of President of Bird's wholly owned subsidiary H.J. O'Connell, Limited in addition to retaining his Senior Vice President title at Bird. Mr. Brennan will fulfill the responsibilities associated with this role from Halifax. Mr. Brennan, a successful founder of Rideau Construction, also joined Bird in 2008 with the completion of the Rideau transaction. Since that time he has primarily been responsible for the Atlantic operations of Bird which have seen our Halifax and Saint John operations flourish. Mr. Brennan has also provided leadership for many corporate initiatives including human resources, safety, and training. His entrepreneurial spirit will be beneficial as he works with the O'Connell management team to effectively continue the growth of their operations in the coming years.
