SHERBROOKE, QC, Nov. 2, 2026 /CNW/ -- An independent arbitrator has rejected all grievances before them and maintained the termination of a former faculty member in the School of Education at Bishop's University.
The arbitrator found that the misconduct alleged by the University was proven. They found that the former faculty member's conduct constituted psychological harassment, including cyberharassment, along with serious incivility, and that dismissal was proportionate in the circumstances. Their decision follows more than 40 days of hearings over nearly four years.
"Bishop's University has a legal and moral obligation to provide a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for members of its community," said Principal and Vice-Chancellor Sébastien Lebel-Grenier. "That obligation guided every step we took: investigating the allegations, addressing the conduct, and defending the termination before the arbitrator. The arbitrator's decision confirms that the termination was justified."
Bishop's recognizes that members of its community were affected by this process. The University remains committed to their ongoing support and well-being.
The full arbitration decision, written in French, is available on the Bishop's University website.
