The acquisition of Apicoltura Urbana strengthens Alvéole's global biodiversity platform, now serving more than 2,000 buildings and working with leading real estate organizations worldwide.
MONTRÉAL and MILAN, Nov. 2, 2026 /CNW/ -- Alvéole, a global provider of urban biodiversity solutions, has acquired Apicoltura Urbana, Italy's leading urban beekeeping company, marking another milestone in its European expansion.
The acquisition brings together two growing businesses with a shared mission: bringing nature to people and helping organizations better understand and improve their impact on biodiversity.
Apicoltura Urbana has built a strong presence across Italy, working with leading organizations including Pirelli, Barilla, Siemens, and Petronas. The company combines urban beekeeping with biodiversity monitoring, environmental data, and employee engagement programs, supported by an established network of local beekeepers across the country.
The relationship between Alvéole and Apicoltura Urbana dates back to 2017 and has grown to a close relationship built on shared ideas, mutual respect, and a common vision for the future.
"I've looked up to Alvéole since the early days, and we've always had a lot in common," said Giuseppe Manno, founder of Apicoltura Urbana. "It's exciting to finally join forces. I think we're going to do some great things together."
Giuseppe will continue leading Apicoltura Urbana, with Alvéole investing to accelerate its next phase of growth.
Growing demand for biodiversity
As biodiversity becomes an increasingly important consideration, driven by frameworks like the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), demand is growing for solutions that improve and track nature.
Alvéole has evolved from pioneering urban beekeeping in Canada to working with some of the world's largest real estate organizations. Today, Alvéole combines on-site and satellite data to measure a building's impact on biodiversity, helping owners demonstrate to investors how they manage nature-related risks while creating meaningful stories about nature for tenants.
Following an earlier acquisition in France and expansion across the UK, Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands, Italy represents another important step in Alvéole's European growth.
"Apicoltura Urbana has built something special in Italy," said Alex McLean, founder and CEO of Alvéole. "Real estate is starting to take biodiversity seriously, and we see a huge opportunity to help owners turn that ambition into action. We're excited to build on what they've started."
Together, the companies plan to accelerate their growth in Italy, bringing a broader range of biodiversity solutions to the country's commercial real estate market. By combining Apicoltura Urbana's local expertise and established relationships with Alvéole's international experience and biodiversity platform, they aim to help more building owners understand, measure, and improve the environments around their properties.
