ABB Canada CEO promoting energy efficiency standards at United Nations

MONTREAL, June 2, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, has agreed to be a partner in the UN Global Partnership Programme to promote international standards and accelerate the transition to energy efficient equipment such as motors, drives and distribution transformers.

This initiative is part of the SE4ALL Forum to promote international efficiency standards during meetings held at the three-day conference on global environmental health launching the United Nations' new Sustainable Energy for All Decade. UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon launched the Sustainable Energy for All as a global initiative to mobilise action from all sectors of society on renewable energy, energy efficiency and energy access.

As a leading electric equipment manufacturer, energy efficiency has always been at the core of our efforts, ABB will contribute its expertise and global leadership in this domain. Mr. Assandri will be a speaker at a special press event during the SE4ALL Forum to promote a campaign for global access to electricity while promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy in the next 10 years.

SE4ALL Forum will feature the UN Secretary General, and World Bank President who will be joined by heads of state, ministers of foreign affairs, agencies and CEOs of private sector and leaders of civil society active in energy issues.
