TORONTO, Jan. 11, 2016 /CNW/ - Sun Life Financial Inc. (TSX:SLF)
(NYSE: SLF) announced that effective today, Randolph (Randy) Brown has
been appointed Chief Investment Officer, Sun Life Financial, overseeing
the investment operations of Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada and
its general account, which had invested assets of approximately $135
billion as at September 30, 2015.

role, Randy will provide overall strategic direction for the investment

Brown has three decades of investment management experience at global
financial institutions. Since 2007, he held several senior roles at
Deutsche Asset and Wealth Management, most recently as Global Head of
Insurance and Pension Solutions and as Head of Asset and Wealth
Management for the UK region. Prior, he was Deutsche's Co-Chief
Investment Officer responsible for a global investment staff of 750 and
$1.2 trillion in assets, as well as the head of Deutsche Insurance
Asset Management, managing money for insurance companies with over $200
billion of assets under management. His previous experience also
included serving as BlackRock's Co-Head of Portfolio Management of its
Financial Institutions Group, where he managed $120 billion in fixed
income assets for a client base of more than 100 insurance companies
Brown will assume the Chief Investment Officer responsibilities from
Peacher, who previously held dual accountabilities and will now
continue to focus on his role as President, Sun Life Investment
Management. Since its launch in April 2014, Sun Life Investment
Management has grown significantly and now has a platform that
comprises the investment operations of Sun Life Assurance Company of
Canada, Sun Life Investment Management Inc., Ryan Labs Asset Management
Inc., Prime Advisors, Inc. and Bentall Kennedy Group. Brown will join
Sun Life's Investment and Credit Risk Committee and will be a member of
the Sun Life Investment Management Executive Team. He will be based in
Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts, and will report to Peacher.
Brown holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Engineering, both in
Electrical Engineering, from Cornell University. He also earned an MBA
from Cornell University's Johnson Graduate School of Management, where
he was a Lester B. Knight Scholar.
