TORONTO, Nov. 28, 2013 /CNW/ - Rockland resident, Pierrette Levesque, almost booked an economy class rail ticket for her trip to the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to claim the $20,113,060.60 jackpot from the November 16, 2013 LOTTO 6/49 draw. "I'm still in shock," she laughed. "It's hard to believe that I'm now a multi-millionaire! First class is an affordable option for me now!"
Pierrette's journey began on the Monday after the draw when she checked her ticket against the numbers in the local newspaper.
"I saw the headline that the $20 million jackpot was sold in the area… the thought did pass through my mind that I might just have the winning ticket!" Pierrette explained. "However, when I realized that all of my numbers matched - I was in shock!"
Within minutes after finding out about her big win, Pierrette called her sister-in-law. "I had to share the news with someone! I said 'Are you free this afternoon? I need to show you something important.'"
The 64 year old widow is an occasional lottery player. "I buy tickets from time to time, when I get that lucky feeling. I'm glad I followed my heart for this draw!"
Pierrette's only regret is that her husband is not here to share in her joy. "He passed away almost exactly 5 years ago. He would have been so happy."
Pierrette, a retired Canada Post employee, will take some time to think about how to spend her new found fortune - although travelling the world is definitely in the plans.
"Paris and Spain are at the top of my list, and my friends have gracefully offered to accompany on my adventures," she concluded. "First class - all the way!"
The winning ticket was purchased at Grenon Independent on Laurier Street in Rockland.
