RCMP Bust a Toronto area Company for Supplying Chemicals Destined for Methamphetamine Labs

TORONTO, Nov. 8, 2016 /CNW/ - Today, the RCMP, Serious and Organized Crime Section arrested two Toronto residents for trafficking in both non-regulated and regulated chemicals from their family-owned business A&K Petrochem Industries in Vaughan, Ontario; each knowing that the end-use was to produce methamphetamine. The matter stems from an RCMP undercover operation (Project OHUB) that was initiated last winter. Over the course of several months that followed enough chemicals were seized by police to manufacture over 262,000 tablets (multi-kilograms) of methamphetamine.

"A key supply chain that feeds clandestine drug laboratories has been disrupted. Those who traffic in chemicals used to produce methamphetamine destroy lives, homes and communities. The RCMP remains fully committed to enforcing laws against illicit drugs to their fullest extent" – said Inspector Kevin NICHOLSON, RCMP Toronto West Detachment, Serious and Organized Crime.

As a result of the investigation Thomas KYRON, 78 years and his son Andrew KYRON, 33 years will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, 50 Eagle Street West, Newmarket, ON and face charges pursuant to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act for trafficking chemicals knowing that the end-use was to manufacture methamphetamine and for unlawfully selling regulated chemicals without a licence.

Anyone with information regarding a suspicious transaction of chemicals involving A&K Petrochem Industries may voluntarily report to the RCMP ChemWatch Hotline at 1(800)387-0020 or Email: odiv_ChemWatch@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
