Minister Leitch congratulates both parties
OTTAWA, July 9, 2015 /CNW/ - Today, the Honourable Dr. K. Kellie Leitch, Minister of Labour and Minister of Status of Women, congratulated Pro-Ex Transportation Solutions, an operating division of Provincial Investments Inc., and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers on the renewal of their collective agreement.
The agreement was reached with assistance from the Labour Program's Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS). The FMCS provides dispute resolution and dispute prevention assistance to trade unions and employers under the jurisdiction of the Canada Labour Code.
- On October 30, 2013, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers was certified by the Canada Industrial Relations Board.
- The parties are negotiating a first collective agreement, covering approximately 25 employees of Pro-Ex Transportation Solutions, engaged in the collection, processing and delivery of courier services in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador.
"I applaud Pro-Ex Transportation Solutions and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers for working together and finding a solution that will benefit everyone. The best solution is always the one that the parties reach themselves."
